Café Boulud

Chef Daniel Boulud

In celebration of my sixteenth birthday (got my drivers license), I asked to go to a restaurant, but not just any restaurant. Café Boulud is owned by a chef that I really admire, his name is Daniel Boulud. Chef Boulud is a world-renowned chef who is known for his modern cuisine with a French flair. You may recognize him from a show called “After Hours” in which he cooked meals at various restaurants with different well known chefs. He has restaurants in New York City, Beijing, London, Vancouver, Las Vegas and Florida! Of course my family and I didn’t travel to Beijing or New York  (although that would have been fun). We went to his restaurant, Café Boulud located here in Palm Beach, Florida, which is run by Executive Chef Zach Bell. The restaurant is located in the Brazilian Court Hotel, which is quite small but very nice. The atmosphere of the restaurant is casual yet elegant, with colorful paintings of the French countryside. When you are seated the hostess says “ Bon Appetit” which is the French way of saying enjoy your meal.

Lights, Camera, Cook!!!!

West Boca High School's Culinary Academy (my School)

This past Tuesday was a really exciting day for Jeremycooks! If you didn’t already know, we recently signed a production deal to create a television show based on Jeremycooks.com and the Cookisodes! In order to create a "demo" to show the Networks, the production company came to shoot different scenes of my life,  in my house, school and work. As you know by now I attend West Boca High School which has a Culinary Academy and that was our first stop of the day. We got to school just in time to shoot my 9:30AM Culinary class. (Thanks to Principal Stenner, Mrs Bantang, Chef Hall and Chef Suarez for allowing us to do this). They not only filmed shots of me cooking with my friends and teachers they interviewed them as well. After school we went back to my house where Jay (one of the producers) interviewed me in my room.

BubbleQ

Me in Front of the BubbleQ Tent (Chef Jacket in hand)

With the arrival of the Food Network’s SoBe (South Beach) Food & Wine Festival in Miami Beach FL, my dad and I were driving back and forth between Miami and Boca Raton (that’s 1 hour twice a day for four days, you do the math). It may have been exhausting but it was one of the best and most memorable experiences in my life. On Thursday (which was my B-day) we drove down to the Miami Beach convention center to meet up with Rich Leadbetter (Executive Chef at Wild Olives by Todd English) who invited me to come help prep for an event called the Bubble Q. The Bubble Q: hosted by Emeril Laggase is just one of the many dinners at the SOBE Food and Wine Festival.
